Sri Devi Biography


Sridevi is one of the most popular actresses of Bollywood and she was born on the 13th of August 1963 in Meenampatti Village near Sivkasi, Tamil Naidu. Her mother tounge is Tamil. Her Father was lawyer and her family had moved from Nellore to Andhra Pradesh.

She has got a sister and two step brothers. Her cousins are also into the film business. She began her career in acting as a child and acted in many Tamil and Telugu movies.

She began her adult acting career in Hindi cinemas in 1975 Julie and Solva Sawan in 1978 before this she had already acted in many Tamil and Telugu films. In 1983 she did a number of movies like Himmatwala which was her second Hindi film and in lot of other movies like Mawali, Kalakaar, and Sadma opposite Kamal Hassan. 1984 saw her in movies like Inquilaab, Naya Kadaam and Tohfa. In 1982 she also got the best actress award for her Tamil film.

Her popular movies from 1983 to 186 includes movies like Aakhree Raasta, Bhagwan Dada and the most popular Nagin 1986 for which she is even remembered today. Karma and Sultanat were very popular in 86. Auulad in 1987 was also preferable.

1987 saw her in one of the biggest movies of her career Mr. India and in 1989 Chaalbaaz won her the best actress award. Same year was Chandani and it was again in 1991 Lamhe and Khuda Gawah that she was back in demand.

Laadla in 1994, Gurudev in 1993, Army in 1996 are some of the movies she is remembered for. She recently made a special appearance in Halla Bol and she quit her active movie life to look after the children after her movie Judaai in 1997. She is undoubtedly one of the biggest talents of Indian Cinema.
Life
Sridevi lost her father when she was shooting for the film Lamhe and mother, while shooting for the film Judaai. She lost her parents when she was very young. There was a rumor during the period between 1986 and 1987 that Sri Devi had an affair with the Bollywood actor Mithun Chakravorty. But, the relationship came to an end, when Mithun did not divorce his wife Yogita Bali. On June 2, 1996, Sridevi tied her wedding knots with the film producer Boney Kapoor. Film Career
Sridevi made her first public appearance as a child artist in the Tamil film Kandhan Karunai (1967). In the beginning of her career, she gave performances in numerous Tamil and Malayalam movies. Some of her best Malayalam movies are Aalinganam, Kuttavum Sikshaiyum, Aadhyapaadam, Aa Nimisham. In the year 1976, she got a major break in the Tamil movies in the lead role. Here, she got the opportunity to work with two great actors, namely Kamal Hassan and Rajnikanth.

In the year 1978, she made her entry in the Hindi films. Her debut Hindi film was Solva Saawan, which unfortunately did not succeed. But, her second film Himmatwala was a super duper hit. The movie made her a star overnight. Thereafter, she signed the film Sadma, which brought her lot of appreciation. During 1980s, she gave fabulous performances, which were admired by all. Her film Chandni was the biggest hit, which brought her in the list of one of the highest paid actresses of Bollywood. She worked in a number of films and has had a very prosperous career. After performing in Judaai, she took a break from the film industry, for upbringing her two daughters. After six years, she appeared on the small screen in a couple of TV serials.
